Harold Olaf Cecil, from Bend, Oregon, USA, is a writer and blogger. In his blog, adHOC:Words+Ideas, he's telling us about a great dinner featuring South West wines and food, including Jean Jouffreau’s 1989 Clos de Gamot, "another delightful find for this evening".
Harold seems to know very well the area and to enjoy our wine and food. If you want to know more about Harold's tastes in wine and food, read his post on his blog.
Michel Bettane, one of the most respected French wine journalists, considers that Cahors wines are among the best values because their prices are lower than they should be and their quality now very high.
Among the many wines he tasted for the French magazine L'Amateur de Cigares, he recommends Château Lagrezette, Château du Cèdre, Château Lamartine, Château Les Rigalets, Château de Grézels, Domaine Cosse Maisonneuve, Château Haut-Monplaisir, Domaine d'Un Jour, Château Ponzac, Clos Triguedina and Primo Palatum.
The press is buzzing with news about the Malbec de Cahors:
- In the Top 10 of friendly wines for chocolate, Chateau Eugenie Haute Collection 2003 comes as number 4. Congratulations!
- Pierre Gagnaire, the famous 3-Star chef, is thinking about putting some Cahors wine on the list for his coming Dubai restaurant.
- The Buddha Bars are also very interested by Cahors wines for their wine list.
- Wine journalists and wine lovers (in French) are talking about Cahors wines in the press and on web sites.
Château Lamartine is on offer today and until Sunday 02/10 for the few privileged ones who are clients of the private site, 1jour1vin.com. Three of its main cuvees are on offer in the '05 vintage:
- Lamartine "Cuvée particulière"
- Lamartine "Expression"
- Château Lamartine.
1jour1vin.com is accesible only by cooptation. Very exceptionnally and only for today, french-malbec.com will give you access to the site by cooptation if you email to: french-malbec@gmail.com.
We are very proud to say that Ireland noticed the quality of our blog: "[French Malbec.com] seems to be a central resource for the Malbecs of the South West and
a forthcoming festival rather than for French Malbec as a whole [...] but which is many of the things other similar sites and initiatives are not.
It’s clearly laid out, totally tagtastic and RSS-laden, not pompous,
not parochial, it is up and running where it claims to be, and it’s in
English."
